“This year, Carlos joined Optima’s Quarter Century Club
and
he ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon 35 minutes faster than last year!”

25 years is a very long time, in so many contexts. Back in 2001:
- Apple introduced the iPod
- The first of The Lord of the Rings trilogy was released
- Tiger Woods won the Masters to complete his historic ‘Tiger Slam’
- The events that became the Come from Away story took place in Gander, NL
- Jean Chrétien was Prime Minister
2001 was particularly wonderful for us because it’s the year our Marathon Man, Carlos, began his career with Optima. For more detail on that, click here. Optima has been blessed with long employee tenure, and to be fair, there are six others who have been with us even longer than Carlos. But none of them are running marathons!
A 42-kilometre marathon is a very long run, for anyone. Carlos attributes this year’s big improvement on an already great accomplishment to more consistent training. Just like so many things in life.
Congratulations Carlos, for two jobs very well done!
